Announcement: 20.07.2016

The Albanian Helsinki Committee (AHC) through its activities continues to monitor several sessions in Tirana District Court on cases with the object of “Issuing protection orders”.

For this purpose, today, on July 20, 2016, 10:00, AHC observer went to Tirana District Court to follow the development of the court session by Judge Kastriot Gramshi, with the object, Issuing of the protection order in favor of B.B against A.B. The judge asked the AHC observer, Mrs. Borana Nazifi, the document which proved that she was sent by the AHC. When she replied that she didn’t have that document, he did not allow the observer to be present in the hall.

For AHC this is not only an unprecedented case and unmotivated, but is in flagrant violation of article 42, paragraph 2, of our Constitution, Article 6, paragraph 1, of the European Convention on Human Rights and Article 26, first paragraph, of the Code of Civil Procedure. In all these three provisions is mentioned the public character of the court sessions.
