On the 16th and 17th of February 2017, Albanian Helsinki Committee (AHC) continued the awareness and activation initiative for Justice Reform in the city of Elbasan. During these days, there were held two discussion forums and a TV program on the local television of “Best TV” and Egnatia Tv. The activities aimed at raising the awareness of citizens, professors, students, professionals of the field of justice and representatives of civil society on the needs and benefits that will have citizens from this reform and novelties of the justice reform and the promotion of activism and obtaining perceptions / needs, to important draft-laws, that are on the focus of this reform.
In these activities gave their contribution Mrs. Erida Skëndaj, AHC Executive Director, Mrs. Vjollca Mecaj, Expert. Nearly 50 students and professors of the University “Aleksander Xhuvani” and nearly 20 representatives of the justice system and civil society active in Elbasan, contributed actively in discussions promoted by experts in terms of the problems that the justice system faces. Activities were facilitated by the AHC correspondent for Elbasan, Mr. Ymer leksi.
This activities were reflected in the media through the TV programs on “TV Best” and on “Egnatia Tv” in Elbasan, the AHC representatives urged all stakeholders of the justice system, to enhance their activation and participation in the consultation of legal justice package that will be subject to ongoing reform processes.
These activities were conducted in the framework of the project “Promotion of activation and participation of the public and civil society in the Reform of the Justice System” supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in the framework of program MATRA (for Rule of Law).
